On the Ship

Rail Deck

While still industrial, this area is far from its days as a train garage. Full size train cars would be hauled by the Abby in this space. Now the Rail Deck is a place for sailing school, storage units, retails and working on boats. It is not your traditional Club entry but it is a fine space  to take you back to when the Abegweit was under sail. 
Capacity: Up to 300 people. Common Uses: Club events and entry way

Lower Salon - lobby

The central point of travel when aboard the Abby, the lower salon acts as place to gather, to relax and to enjoy. With soft piano music playing and large comfy lounge furniture, grab a drink and enjoy. 
Capacity: Up to 60 people. Common Uses: Club events and leisure

members bar

A bar unlike any other. Once the ship's studio, now a place to come together with friends and family while enjoying a fine drink, great meal and wonderful conversation. Most likely the most inviting bar in Chicago, this is a place where members often find themselves. 
Capacity: Up to 60 people. Common Uses: Member dining and leisure

dining room

Club members enjoy this cozy and recently renovated dining room with fine photos of the Abby's first days in dry dock. The outdoor dining area is one of the best in Chicago with skyline views and a front row seat to Navy Pier fireworks. 
Capacity: Up to 140 people. Common Uses: Member dining

aft deck

This area was once a parking lot for the passenger vehicles being transported by the Abby. Now, with the tent above, this space is used for some of the best private events, non-profit events and club parties in Chicago. 
Capacity: Up to 300 people. Common Uses: Club events and private events

upper salon

Once an area where passengers would relax during their voyage, the Upper Salon a place for larger groups to gather and enjoy the panorama of the lake front. The Upper Deck surrounds the salon and is furnished with teak furniture for members to enjoy.
Capacity: Up to 100 people. Common Uses: Meetings, event, private events and lounging 

board room

The Board Room is used for Director meetings, committees, private events and more. It has gorgeous brass windows that allow plenty of natural light. The walls are adorned with historical photos of the Club Ships of past. 
Capacity: Up to 30 people. Common Uses: Meetings and private dining


Located adjacent to the Captain's Quarters and is used by members daily. The Club Librarian keeps the shelves stock and refreshed with books about sailing, fun novels and even kid's books. 
Capacity: Up to 8 people. Common Uses: Small meetings and leisure


The forward wheelhouse or Bridge is now one of Columbia's favorite rooms for site-seeing, dining or just enjoying a day on the lake front. 
Capacity: Up to 20 people. Common Uses: Meetings, private dining and leisure
